Director Biography - Carlee Soeder

Hi there! My name is Carlee and I'm a graduate of Florida State University. My love for storytelling really sprouted and grew throughout my time in college. I started off acting in college, spread my roots into writing and directing student theatre shows at my university, and worked as an associate producer for WFSU-TV. At WFSU-TV, I primarily worked on a year-long nature documentary funded through PBS's American Spring Live programming. I learned as an associate to write more purposefully and how to edit stories for engagement. During my time at FSU, I built my acting skills on stage and on-screen, performing in several plays and in several short films with FSU's film school. Writing and directing became a bigger passion, and I explored those avenues by writing plays and directing them. I knew long-term, I wanted to combine what I had learned in the documentary and news realm of television with my experiences writing plays, and create narrative films. In 2020, I made the big move to Atlanta to begin my journey into the film industry. Originally, my film Check-Six was to be filmed in April of 2020, but due to the pandemic, we lost funding. Through perseverance and diligence, I have independently produced Check-Six. Today, I am currently working on several more scripts to soon be filmed!

Director Statement

Check-Six was a conglomeration of perseverance, teamwork, and dedication. Filming was originally halted and funding lost due to the beginning of the pandemic, but as things started to look up I was determined to get this film back up on its feet. Every single one of the crew and cast members, and all of our supporters had a hand in the successful reboot and filming of Check-Six. I'm so honored to have had a team such as this one! This film was made entirely in Atlanta by an all Atlanta cast and crew!
