Gaelyn Drew Smith is your next favorite Hollywood multi-hyphenate. She is an Actor, show creator, writer, and creative producer. She received her BFA in Acting from Syracuse University in May 2020, receiving the Marcia Mohr Award for Excellence in Dramatic Acting. Her Syracuse University credits include: For Colored Girls (Lady in Purple), Good Kids (Skyler), The Women, and her one-woman show Something Like...This. She is an accomplished spoken word artist, winning Grand Slam Champion of the DC Youth Slam Team (2016) and other awards. She is a recent graduate of the Master in the Television, Radio, and Film program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a focus on writing, creative producing, and showrunning. She is the 2021 recipient of the Gordan J. Alderman Memorial Prize for Excellence in Television, Radio, and Film. She is currently developing a scripted podcast and a half-hour drama called Chasing Viral. She also has a podcast called You Got is Sis: Meditations, Affirmations, and Bedtime Stories for the Black woman (+anyone else). Outside of this, you can find her watching Beyoncé documentaries, making Tik-Toks, bothering her dad, and eating french fries.
My purpose as an artist is to empower Black youth by expanding and redefining the narrative of the Black experience in America on both sides of the camera, stage, and emerging platforms.
