Rahul Bhadra:
With Charulata, I wanted to explore the dark reality of a prostitute’s life and what happens when she meets her child. It was tough to make it as raw as I wanted while keeping it culturally Bengali, but I think I’ve managed to achieve a bit of that balance.
Pranjal Soni:
Charulata, this short film idea for me was inspired by Bulbul and Gangubai kathiyawadi. I wanted to show a sound scape that had a vibe of the old rural livelihood and to understand the small details of that era was a difficult task for me living in this era where everything is easily accessible. It was a new experience for me to dive into the story telling process and convey a part of the story through the process of sound. But I believe that I have achieved to create a space different from the 21st century
