Chapati and Christmas

I have traveled to Kenya for my documentary named “Chapati & Christmas” on SDG Goal #2 Zero Hunger and I have met different people regarding to fulfill this purpose during my stay. It amazed me when I heard about people struggle to afford their bread and butter. I was touched heartily and realized we leave our plates with leftover and waste so much food in daily life. Moreover, we have many option for a meal and at the same time most of the people don’t have single chapati.

I conducted interview with tribal people and some street boys affiliated with NGO named ‘Street Boy Foundation’. I collaborated with this NGO working for homeless young boys aged 6 to 19 who lives on streets. We have been there and bought some chapatis for them but sad to know that they didn’t eat anything since yesterday, upon my asking “When did they eat chapati last time? They were sharing their heart touching stories, majority didn’t eat chapati for months. They usually associate chapatti with month of December or Christmas. Some of the boys used to eat food from dustbins before taken up by the NGO. I can’t forget their smiling faces, warm gesture and facebook messages when I came back to my home country ‘Pakistan’.
