Catie Monteiro is a South African documentary filmmaker with an MA in Ethnographic and Documentary Film from University College London.
After discovering rock climbing in her late twenties, Catie left her job as a journalist for NBC News to pursue a career in outdoor photography and filmmaking.
Catie has directed several documentary shorts, notably “Play” which recently featured at the London Mountain Film Festival, and “Dak,” which earned selection at the Indie Shorts Awards Cannes.
Specialising in observational storytelling, Catie’s films follow human stories in an intimate mode, offering a quiet window into her subjects’ world. Her unique contributions have garnered support from major brands including Tenaya, Mad Rock and Mountain Hardwear.
