The purpose of "Castellabate Film Festival" is to honor the vision, the art and the work of Independent Filmmakers Worldwide.

The Live Event will be on September 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 in the "Area of movies" in Castellabate, a beautiful village in the Cilento Coast (Italy).
In more than 36 hours of screening, the Best Feature Film, the best Animation, the best documentary, the best Short Films, Videoclips, the best experimental, the best actor and actress, the best social video, will be showcased and recognized.
The peculiarity of our festival is to interview all the filmmakers who will tell us about their films online through the "zoom" platform.

All selected Films will receive the Official Selection Laurel and will be promoted on Social Media.

In judgment phase, sub-categories may be added.

The Winning projects will receive an Award (or a Certificate, if they won't be able to attend the Live Events).

Rules & Terms

We accept all genres Short Films, Videoclips, Animation Shorts, Documentaries, Trailers and Feature Films, realized after 2010.

All the works must be original and the submitter has the responsibility to own the rights of every aspect of the Film.

Films that are not in English need English subtitles.

Films with grossness, excessive sex and violence will be disqualified.

    With all the many festivals I have attended I have always written a positive review but this event (I can't really call it a festival) was the worst. Although they want to call this an “international film festival”, Castellabate is not really a film festival but rather a classroom for the local high school students. Each morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon the students (age 15 -18) came with their teacher to sit in a conference-like room, view the films, and ask questions afterward of the filmmaker.
    I am not sure why their event is only oriented toward high schools rather than the general public as most film festivals are. People in the town had no idea that a festival was even going on and even if they had wanted to attend there were no screenings at night or weekends.

    Furthermore, there was very poor hospitality. For the first few days filmmakers had to figure out everything for themselves.... where to eat, where to gather, how to meet other filmmakers, etc. The director did not do much to assure the comfort of the filmmakers because he was running around trying to put his attention to the needs of the students.. To be fair, there was a nice lunch for the filmmakers on the last day but by then it was too late

    When confronted about these issues the director had many excuses and defenses so it does not seem like he is going to make it better. Filmmakers be warned.

    Eva Habermann / Main Actress and Producer of THE UGLY TRUTH: "Castellabate Film Festival is a small but very personal and beautiful film festival. I was very warmly received with our film "THE UGLY TRUTH" and my special highlight was the Q&A hour with many language students from the area around Castellabate. The interest was great and I was asked a lot of good questions about "depression" and "addictions", which is what our film is about. There must have been about 70 participants and compared to other Q&As I have given in my life, the interest was great and I was asked a lot of questions that I was happy to answer. The attending filmmakers were also invited to lunch and dinner and it was a great exchange and I made valuable contacts. My special thanks go to Gianni Petrizzo, who organizes the festival and is an independent filmmaker himself with all his heart and passion and values other filmmakers and radiates that with every pore. It was a wonderful experience overall and I am really happy that I went to Castellabate. (Which is also a very beautiful town next to the sea btw) "
