Director Biography - Adilet Karzhoev

Adilet Karzhoev was born in 1988. In 2011, he received a Bachelor's degree from the Kyrgyz-Turkish University Manas; department of Radio, TV and Cinema. In 2019, he received a Master’s degree of American University in Central Asia; department of Journalism (concentration of cinema). Adilet has shot two short documentaries and one short fiction film. He is a winner of more than 10 International Film Festivals in Turkey, Russia, Qatar, Kazakhstan and Estonia. Adilet Karzhoev American University of Central Asia in-house instructor, teaching at Journalism and Mass Communications and Television, Cinema and Media Art programs.

Director Statement

Being a woman in Kyrgyzstan is a heavy burden even today. In order to survive one goes for illegal job and looses small amount of rights that she had. With this film we would like to share a “fictional” story of a woman that for some people here is a reality and call attention for a number of problems that women face in Kyrgyz society.
