Alec was born in Austin in 1994, his childhood interests including making old camcorder films, drawing, and building Rube Goldberg machines. This culminated to studying film editing in Santa Fe, NM under the inaugural Robert Redford Milagro Initiative Scholarship. He's since thrived as an editor and animator. His preferred type of animation is rotoscoping to achieve a retro-neon hyperrealistic effect, usually using a smartphone to capture facets of life which he then animates over. For Alec, editing and rotoscoping is not just a career, it's a form of meditation and self-reflection. (and making himself laugh)
On Thursday, April 25th, 2019, the traveling carnival came to Santa Fe, NM. Upon arriving, I got the idea to film my friends and I and rotoscope them without the rides or apparatuses. For a year, I've been animating on 2's by hand to immortalize this memory, and hope to be on a rickety traveling rollercoaster with my friends again very soon.
