"IN 3 MINUTES . . SHARE YOUR VISION OF GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP ON A SMARTPHONE SHORT FILM!"
GLOBAL CITIZEN is the first juried edition of the CARAVAN Smartphone Short Film Festival we are reflecting on what it means to be a “Global Citizen.” With all its challenges and complexities, how do we make sense of such a fast-paced and conflict-ridden world? And how do we not only move forward but thrive as a global community?
It is more essential than ever that one’s identity transcends geography or religious, ethnic, political and nationalistic borders, and instead sees their membership to be in a broader global community called "humanity." We have never been more interconnected and more impacted by each other’s actions than we are today.
A “global citizen” is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world - and their place in it. It requires that we see the world as a globe of interconnected persons and are prepared to take responsibility for our roles and its effect on the all of earth's inhabitants. It means taking an active role and working with others to make our planet more equal, fair, peaceful and sustainable. Through travel, work, technology and our actions everyone in one way or another has a unique opportunity to be an agent of change to effect peace and harmony, and to celebrate our similarities, toward building a brighter future. One of the most exciting ways of doing this is through film.
This juried Smartphone Short Film Festival is open to all filmmakers around the world and is an invitation to share your vision of what it means to be a “global citizen,” a responsible member of our world today.
