A recent graduate from Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, England, Thomas has been a student of film for the past decade. His documentary Autism: A Curious Case of the Human Mind earned Best Feature Documentary and Best of Festival awards in 2017 at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival and his short film Sticks and Feathers was awarded the Best Factual Film prize in 2018 at HotHouse Theatre’s Nottingham Film Festival. Although known for his documentary work, Thomas is now focusing on fictional film projects, stating a variety of directors such as Martin Scorsese, Alfred Hitchcock and Noah Baumbach as his main directorial influences.
Life can be difficult, even if it is not “tied to a chair with a bag over your head, fearing that you are about to be murdered” kind of difficult… but regardless of what obstacles we all may be facing, it is important to remember that life is sometimes not as serious as we think it is and that there is always a silver lining to be found somewhere. Captive is for everyone who needs a reason to smile today.
