    Great job in promoting cinema

    December 2020
  • At first, there was excellent communication and warm greetings from CIIFF informing me that our film was selected but was not for competition. We were elated and excited with only a selected designation. CIIFF was just as responsive and kind later when we misplaced our certificate and asked for it again via email. However, when their website was updated with the program and the selections, we were not included on the list of films selected. I emailed to ask if this was an oversight and was written back with a pretty flippant response saying that they were too busy with the festival to update the list. I wanted really badly to share my selection via social media linking to their site as I teach in a film program with over 400 students, so I wanted them all to be able to click and see their teacher's film listed at an international festival. It's almost three months later and the list still isn't updated, This attention to detail is important for filmmakers so I don't think I'll be entering again with them in the future as I don't feel valued as a entrant.

    Response from festival:

    Hello Marie,
    Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, we first uploaded the list of semi-finalists to the site (188!), But a few offended filmmakers withdrawn their film as a "semi-finalist". Although you wrote to us during the festival and we kindly answered you, we also kindly sent you your semi-finalist certificate twice. Further, the management decided not to upload the list of semi-finalists to the official website of the festival. Nobody disputes the decision of the management.
This was the first edition and in the next editions there will be no semi-finalist and finalist status, but only selected and unselected films. In this case, you have an exclusive certificate of our festival. There will be no more such certificates.
Good luck and take care of yourself!
