Composer: Gyuli Kambarova Characters: Kuzmina foster family and Abramov foster family Synopsis: Two unique families bring up 10 foster children. Film, which sends a significant message to the modern world. This documentary is about the foster families, with foster parents as the main characters. The movie is not linked to nationalities or goverments for the orphanhood is the world-wide problem. The incurable sick children suddenly started to walk and talk, and the teenagers, who had experienced the grief, once again learned to believe in a bright future!
Screenings / Awards: Our film is mainly aimed at improving the situation with adoption in Russia, so we sent our film mainly to film festivals held inside our country. The result was very positive, because we chose the right strategy. However, International festivals in Canada, India, Armenia and the United States also received our film well and showed it at their events.

Artist Biography

Gyuli Kambarova is a classically trained pianist and composer graduated from the prestigious Rostov State Rakhmaninov Conservatory. There she received two Masters of Music with honors in Piano Performance and Music Composition.

She began her career in Southern Russia where she was composing, performing and teaching. Gyuli's works started to be acknowledged across the area and widely performed in graduate recitals and concerts, and soon spread across the country. For her contribution to contemporary music she was accepted to the Union of Dagestan Composers and later to the Union of Russian Composers. After moving to the United States in 2010, Gyuli started developing her career in Louisville area and across the country. She has performed numerous times at the University of Louisville School of Music, Youth Performing Arts School, Louisville Academy of Music, libraries, nursing homes, churches, and other venues in Kentuckiana as a pianist and composer collaborating with many great musicians and dancers. Besides performing and composing, Gyuli is a very gifted educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience. Her students have won International and Regional piano and composer competitions demonstrating high professional level of both students and the teacher. The last achievement of Gyuli’s students was winning at “20th Annual Nathaniel Patch Piano Competition” (2nd Place and Honorable Mention).

Some of Gyuli's other achievements are: became a finalist of the prestigious International Antonin Dvorak Composition Competition (Prague, Czech Republic), won the competition "Fifteen-Minutes-Of-Fame: Re-Imagining Shubert" (New York, USA), received several diplomas from "Choir Laboratory XXI Century" (St. Petersburg, Russia) and grant from the International Alliance for Women In Music (Winston-Salem, NC, USA), composed music for a documentary by Anna Barsukova "You Are Not Alone!" and won diploma for this music (Oryol, Russia), composed music for another documentary by Anna Barsukova "Voice for the Voiceless", received Third Place Laureate of the “5th International Composer Competition named after S. Prokofiev” (Chelyabinsk, Russia), was chosen the Commissioned Composer 2019 by Kentucky Music Teachers Association.

Gyuli has released three CDs: “Dreams” (2014), “My Way” (2016), and Memories” (2018). They include her own instrumental compositions that cover different styles: classical, romantic, jazz, contemporary, and cinematic.

Gyuli Kambarova has developed a unique voice in her compositions; her works incorporate an incredible mixture of Eastern sounds and classical techniques. Her technical prowess enables her to write a wide range of music, of various styles and instruments.

She currently resides in Louisville, KY where she continues to compose, teach, and perform across the country.
