Caliban
Amer Abdo came from Syria to Romania to continue his acting studies and pursue a career in theatre. After graduation, he’s been making a living by working as a store clerk by day and a cab driver by night. But finally, his wait is over: he got a minor part in a major play, “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare. He has a chance to put his acting skills to the test, but first he has to overcome language barriers.

Chirilă Paul (1984) has a bachelor degree in Cinematography and a master’s degree in Documentary Film Directing at the University of Theatre and Film ”I.L. Caragiale”.
In 2012, Kurgan Oblast, a film shot by Paul, won the best documentary award at "Cinemaiubit Film Festival". It tells the story of the mass deportations from Bessarabia to Siberia in 1949.
His first film as a director, "A Letter from Romania” (2020) is a mid-lenght doc shaped round a character that fights for restoring long forgotten communist values.
On his current feature length project, Paul follows the conflict between the rural conservative community of Ditrău and the local bakery after the hiring of two non-EU workers.
