Director Biography - Ulrica de la Mar

I was raised in a family who were passionate about theatre. Learning the skills on stage and behind the scenes.

In 2014 (At the age of 56) I took my first steps, as an extra, into the small and big screen.
With my film roles in Elegant Heist, Mi Casa su Blanca and Kold, I won several Best Actress awards. My style combines perfect the realism and fictional into the character. My strength as an actress lies in my beliefs and feelings, how the audience wants to see."

In the summer of 2020 I had the opportunity to work with director Jessica Lau as first assistant director.
My experience of assistant director at The Hague Comedy' theatre company, was a big advantage to understand the wishes of a director.
Thanks to all these wonderful experiences I directed my own short film: #planB about the impact of plastic pollution.

The stories of my films are true stories.
A reflection and based on my own life.

Organisations receiving subsidies from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science will have to deal with less euros in the coming years.

In addition to the increase in VAT from 9% to 21% and the increase in municipal and government subsidies are being reduced and the gift deduction is being adjusted. The entire arts and culture sector are being affected by a loss of 350 million euros per year in income.

There is no difference between subsidized and non-subsidized cultural expressions, large renowned companies and new talents and cultural participation within the Netherlands.
The impact goes beyond the arts and culture sector. It also concerns the development of talent among our residents, combating loneliness and promoting people's well-being.

Culture connects and enriches the lives of many Dutch people.
That’s worth a lot.

Plenty of reasons to make a short film about it.
