CUBA - The Dance of Memory
Location - Cuba. Our subject is Jossie Alonso, who lives amidst her memories in a stunning old Havana home. The objective was to discover and share with the rest of the world the eclectic mix of dance in Havana - so much more exists than just the vibrant, bold scene of samba. We could not have had a lovelier subject. In her 80's now, Jossie trained as a dancer many years ago, and her incredible house is a magnet for dancers and filmmakers alike. As she says in the film, when she sees the young dancers in her house, she remembers "many things, good things" about her youth in Cuba. The house is beautiful, and evocative, filled with wonderful light.
