Hailing from the dance floors, she brought with her a wealth of experience in choreography, which naturally segued into her current love for music videos. Though she's been a student for 11.5 years, mostly spending her time on the scenic Jeju Island, she made the bold decision to take a gap year to get some real-world experience.

“Dancing has always been my first love, but there’s just something about films and music videos that caught my eye,” Kelly shares with a gleam in her eyes. “It’s like opening up a whole new way of telling stories.”

And tell a story she did, with her very first production, "CLASSROOM." But the journey to this point was anything but straightforward. “I live and breathe film now, and there’s no turning back. I’ve found my groove, and I’m just going to ride it out and see where it takes me.”

Director Statement

I am Woobin Jo, though you might find it easier to call me Kelly. Today, I stand before you, thrilled to unveil my very first production, "CLASSROOM," a project that is incredibly dear to my heart.

Embarking on this journey, I carried with me a background rich in dance and choreography, having spent over a decade expressing myself through the grace and fluidity of movement. This unique perspective has been a guiding light in my exploration of the world of films and music videos. Now, after 11.5 years of formal education on the beautiful Jeju Island, I found the courage to pause, to take a gap year, and to dive headfirst into the practical realm of filmmaking.

My path has not been without its trials. I’ve deleted countless terabytes of work, relentlessly striving for that moment of perfection, that point where my vision on screen aligns seamlessly with the story in my heart. "CLASSROOM" is the culmination of this journey, a project that stands as a testament to my dedication and my unwavering belief in the power of storytelling through film.

As I navigated through the complexities of this industry, interning at an advertisement video company, I realized that everything I have learned in dance has prepared me for this moment. The rhythm, the expression, the ability to tell a story without uttering a single word – all of these elements have found a new home in my work with film.

What I have discovered in this process is a passion, an obsession even, that I never knew existed within me. I have fallen in love with the art of filmmaking, with the way a story can unfold on screen, capturing the hearts and minds of its audience.

I am ready to dedicate my everything to this craft, to learn, to grow, and to relentlessly pursue excellence in every frame, every cut, and every shot. My goal is clear: I aim to be a top film director, to create works that resonate, that challenge, and that leave a lasting impact.

"CLASSROOM" is just the beginning, a stepping stone towards a future filled with stories waiting to be told. I am ready for this adventure, ready to pour my heart and soul into this art form that has captured my imagination and fueled my passion like nothing else before.

Thank you for taking the time to witness the start of my journey. I invite you to join me as I embark on this thrilling adventure in filmmaking.

Best,
Woobin "Kelly" Jo
