I am Abinaya Mummoorthy, a driven and passionate individual with a profound interest in the media and television production industry. My journey towards this career path has been shaped by a combination of academic achievements, practical experiences, and a deep-rooted passion for storytelling. Growing up in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, a region rich in cultural diversity and history, I was always fascinated by the power of media to influence and reflect society. This fascination grew into a passion, leading me to pursue a career in media, with a particular focus on television production.
My academic journey began at T/ Sri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies College, where I completed my GCE O/L exams with distinction in key subjects such as Religion, Tamil, Mathematics, and Science. These early successes laid a strong foundation for my future academic pursuits. Despite the challenges I faced, including the rigorous demands of advanced subjects like Mathematics and Physics, I remained steadfast in my commitment to academic excellence. My dedication paid off when I successfully completed the International Foundation Diploma in Higher Education Studies at the Asian Institute of Business and Science, further honing my academic and communication skills.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have actively sought out opportunities to gain practical experience in the media industry. My involvement in various extracurricular activities, such as directing a short film that received an Honorable Select Award at the Student Film Festival, has provided me with invaluable hands-on experience in media production. Furthermore, my work with Kuviyam Media since 2022 has allowed me to deepen my understanding of the industry, particularly in the areas of content creation and editing. This experience has not only equipped me with technical skills in tools like Canva and Cupcut but also with the ability to collaborate effectively with others in a professional setting.
