CHILGAM
Uzma and Deepak are in love, but they'll have to negotiate much more than matters of the heart!
The story is set in a society which is getting increasingly polarised on the lines of religion and takes us on a journey of love and courage.
Will Uzma and Deepak stand up for their love, or will the societal discourse of hatred take over?

Saurav Kumar is an independent filmmaker based in New Delhi (India).
He grew up in Patna (Bihar) and studied engineering before turning to filmmaking.
Growing up in a culturally-diverse middle-class society, he became acquainted to rich flavors of multi-cultural environment including the language - basically, Urdu that was spoken along with Hindi, food, customs etc. that later helped him to develop deep interests in writing. His exposure to English literature and the world cinema during the days of engineering paved way for him to seek filmmaking as a career.
An autodidact in filmmaking, CHILGAM is his debut short film as writer-director.
Through my years of growing up in a culturally-mixed neighborhood comprising of Hindus and Muslims, I stood witness to an undercurrent of disapproval, sometimes turning into hostility that the communities carried with them on matters of acceptance of each other's faith and practices. And the situation even worsened in the matters of interfaith love and marriages.
Chilgam is an attempt to subtly reflect those cultural differences and what it takes to fall in love in such a society. Moreover through Chilgam, I’ve tried to delve into the socio and domestic realms of Muslim society in general.
