Director Statement

I first began writing “Charlie” in 2017. It started as a semi-silent film and aspired to use experimental filmmaking techniques to convey a story while only allowing audiences to see glimpses of the aftermath. Then, I gathered a group of friends and developed a 2-minute silent film. What started as a meaningless project started to gain more traction and interest in my mind as I set forth into my 3rd year of college.

With a new found interest, I found a way to make “Charlie” even better. Now, gathering not only those friends again, but growing our circle to include an even bigger crew, I sought out to produce my first script.

We faced many challenges with this film, from rewriting, reworking, on-set challenges, and finally the lockdown for COVID-19 cancelling our final day of shooting. Even with all the challenges, “Charlie” pushed me as a filmmaker to find creative solutions, and realize, that no matter your situation – a story can be created, weather it’s the story you originally intended when you set forth, or if it’s an even better one.
