CENSORED episode 8 - Beyond the Pale

FINAL CHAPTER (8) “Beyond the Pale”: Liam realizes the Paul and Ruben are using the service elevator and shoots the cables, sending the cabin into freefall with the men still inside. The elevators’ emergency brakes catch it between two levels and Ruben and Paul are forced to abandon Spencer’s corpse as the guards close in on them. They break their way into Dreamland’s lowest level and discover a prop-filled backstage-like area. Liam taunts them through hidden speakers, explaining the origin of his deformities, until Ruben and Paul burst into an amphitheater and interrupt a clone “graduation” ritual. Paul kills the master of ceremony in self-defense and the men run out another door, only to come face to face with more guards… and Liam!
Liam shoots Ruben and proceeds to enlighten Paul as to the true nature and function of the Men in Black, pushing him back to the amphitheater. Liam offers Paul one last chance to be promoted, despite his betrayal, and become his “protégé” but becomes distracted by a disobedient clone. Liam kills the clone, not realizing the “faux pas” he’s committed in disobeying rules he himself made up to keep the clones in check. This sparks an uprising amongst the clone ranks and a riot breaks out between the guards and the children in the bleachers. As the fight bleeds over into the amphitheater, Paul seizes his chance and attacks Liam, but barely survives the fight. Just as Paul is about to be killed, the clones overwhelm the guards and Liam is destroyed by his creations.
Paul passes out just as Ruben regains consciousness, saved from his gunshot by a bulletproof vest. Ruben escapes with a batch of “ascended” clones to a helipad on the other side of the mountain and is chased through the woods. Before he can be caught, Ruben leaps from a cliff to the waters below.
Awaking in Dreamland’s medical unit, Paul has been rushed from surgery to help Liam’s “successors” regain control of the lower levels against the out of control clones. Indeed, having frozen Paul’s DNA from the head wound suffered in the jeep 20 years ago, Liam has put Paul’s biometric data into the base’s mainframe to act as an extra lock, added on top his chiefs of staff “official” security clearances without their knowledge. Paul is wheeled to Liam’s quarters, flanked by an eclectic group of shady characters, and forced to unlock the final sequence. This allows them to flood the base drown the clones that are progressively fighting their way up towards their level. They then use Paul again to open Liam’s vault of secrets. As the vulturous chiefs of staff hurry in to see what mysteries Liam has been hiding all these years, they forget their caution and allow Paul gets the jump on them! He slams the vault door shut before they return to kill him, and locks them inside to rot.
Suddenly alone, all Paul can think about is getting back to Ingrid. He tries to phone her repeatedly but can’t get through... Until a vacuum tube catches his attention as it keeps receiving Liam’s clone/Men in Black reports. Paul realizes he can use Liam’s agents to track down his wife, and writes Ingrid’s info down. He sends it back up the shoot, becoming that which he most despises and fulfilling Liam’s vision of him taking Dreamland’s reins. Ruben awakes on the dried shores of the river Paul is using to flood the base with, and walks back to civilization.
Back in Antarctica, Anton and Steven arm themselves for their unexpected guests… who turns out to be a newer, more psychically powerful version of the Men in Black! A gunfight ensues, destroying most of the Antarctic base. In the resulting chaos, Steven convinces Anton to try and teleport him away through Shoshanna. Despite his doubts, Anton manages to send him off in a dying effort.
In yet another timeline, Shoshanna crashes into a cornfield and Steven is flung from the pod. Men in Black pay a visit to his alter ego in this reality and murder him. Watching his execution from a few corn rows away, Steven assumes the man’s/his own identity and goes to his house. He discovers the life of his “double” in a daze, and learns of a daughter with, and subsequent divorce from Isabelle through the photos on the walls. A message beeps on his answering machine and as he listens, someone knocks on the door. Steven opens it and can’t believe his eyes, falling tearfully into Isabelle’s arms at long last. He hugs his daughter and ex-wife close, finally reunited with his family.
