This film is dedicated to the memory of my grandfather who spent his youth in captivity during the Second World War. Fragments of his personal history resonate with the anonymous faces of prisoners of war captured by archive footage and photographs.

After studying film and philosophy at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, La Sorbonne Paris 1 and University Paris 7 in partnership with la Cinémathèque française, Anouk Phéline has furthered her education in visual arts at UCLA. Now a PhD candidate in film studies at ENS Paris, her research focuses on Rossellini's film "Viaggio in Italia" linked to the tradition of the trip to Italy in literature and the arts.
