Rufus Boothe is currently studying film at East London Arts and Music he has worked on many a project such as music videos, documentaries and branded content. However, his true passion lies in narrative storytelling and filmmaking. He has released his first Short film 'CAKES. CANDLES. AND GUNS.' in march 2023.
In the summer of 2022, I generated an idea from a small clip from stranger things season 4. The idea had started to grow and became more and more of its own thing. At the time it was never really something I think I would make however when making it everything felt so right.
This was the second screenplay that I had ever written but the first that really gave me perspective on what writing is all about. I had the opportunity to let it grow and let everything that was happening around me find its way into the story. I didn't just get to learn about the origins of writing but I also got to see my own growth as a person.
All throughout Pre-production I was telling myself and others that this isn't a film I necessarily want to make but more of a film that I feel I need to make. I later found out the truth about this which is now a key part of my filmmaking.
This was definitely one of the biggest experiences of growth not just in my filmmaking but me and my life as a human being.
