Experiencing Interruptions?

Butterfly 29

November 2029.
In a very short time, “Butterfly 29” spreads around the world, a computer virus that with a netpandemic compromises all the systems and platforms of the planet's advanced technology, making any form of communication, dissemination and use of any artificial intelligence impossible.
And so, in the space of 4 months, in a gigantic blackout propagated with a "domino effect", are obscured all the broadcasts of the radio and television system and all the web and telephony services that are estimated to have now come to represent 98.8% of the traffic and information exchange of the entire Western system.

Ten years earlier, in 2020, in Italy, the subject Alan Caravaggio was sentenced to 14 years of house arrest for the murder of his wife, which occurred during a lockdown for the biological pandemic known as Covid 19.
The narration is set in March 2030 and while the world, having no alternative, returns to meet each other animating the streets, squares, bars and theaters, Alan Caravaggio is increasingly isolated in his confinement, relating only to the social worker that with the task of delivering food to him, represents his only window on the world.

Alan is constantly filmed by 32 micro-cameras that surround his home inside and outside which, however, due to "Butterfly 29", are no longer monitored by the "home control" section of the police.
Although therefore having the opportunity to escape and return to savor the freedom he has lost, Alan decides not to escape his isolation but to take an old tape recorder to record "audio letters" to be left to his now adolescent son and who at the time of the femicide which led him to lose the affection of both parents, he was 6 years old.
Thus an intense stream of consciousness arises.
In these letters / confessions, Alan's reflections will pass from the introspective glimpses of his life, to the analysis of the society he left (that of 2020), with inevitable references to the perceptions he has on contemporary social organization to the narrative (2030) . At the end of this confession, Alan will realize that the promise that the world made to itself 10 years earlier, keeping it in the hopeful motto "we will come out better" will perhaps only be thanks to "Butterfly 29" that it can finally come true.
