The Butoni Films Cultural Association announces the second edition of the Butoni Film Fest international short film competition within the framework of Butoni Fest Vol. 3 - Valencia International Cultural Festival.

Target
The main objective of Butoni Fest is to be a festival for everyone, a festival of synergies, a meeting place where young filmmakers project their works together with established filmmakers from the industry and exchange concerns, where emerging musicians share their music supported by illustrations by young people. artists, where children who dream of being actors learn how to make a movie. A place where present and future go hand in hand. That's Butoni Fest.
Who can participate?
Any person may participate and/or compete, regardless of their nationality.
natural person over 18 years of age or any legal person. There is no limit of short films with which the same Author/Producer/Distributor can participate.
General conditions
All short films that are presented in each of the five established categories must meet the following requirements:
DURATION
They will have a maximum duration of 30 minutes credits included.
DATE OF PRODUCTION
Be made or produced after January 1, 2021 and not be available on any streaming platform.
REGISTRATION IN EACH CATEGORY
Short films must be registered in the corresponding categories, provided by the Festival. In the event that a short film is registered in a category to which it does not correspond, it may be moved to another as long as it meets the requirements of this category. If you want to participate in more than one category, you must register the short film for each of the categories in which you want to participate.
LANGUAGE AND SUBTITLES
The short films may be shot in any language. All the short films that are presented whose original version is different from Valencian or Spanish, must be presented in their original version with subtitles in Valencian, Spanish or English.
PRESELECTION
The organization will assess all proposals received in the same way.
Specific Categories and Conditions
The festival consists in this edition of the following categories:
OFFICIAL SECTION
Competitive section. The short films presented will be fiction or animation, original or adaptation of a free theme.
STUDENT OFFICIAL SECTION
Competitive section. The short films presented will be fiction or animation, original or adaptation of a free theme made by students. To participate in this category, a document must be attached that proves that the director/author/producer was a student when the short film was made.
ÀNIMA (ANIMATION SHORT FILMS SECTION)
competitive section. The short films presented will be animated, original or adaptation of a free theme. In this section shorts are admitted from 2020.
ADVENTURE SHORT FILMS AND FAN FILMS SECTION
Competitive section. The short films presented will be fiction or animation, original or adaptation, and their theme will be of the adventure or fan film genre. In this section shorts are admitted from 2020.
VE CINEMA SECTION
Competitive section. The short films presented will be fiction or animation, original or adaptation of a free theme where the director is Valencian or 80% of the accredited team is Valencian or they are shot entirely in the Valencian Community. In this section, short films are admitted from 2020. To participate in this category, a document must be attached that proves that the director/author/producer/team is Valencian or that the short film is shot in the CV.
MUSIC VIDEO SECTION
Competitive section. Free-themed music video and international scope.
The organization reserves the right to modify the categories into which the festival is divided.
Pay per selection
The organization will pay all the short films selected in the categories: OFFICIAL SECTION and OFFICIAL STUDENT SECTION the amount of €20(VAT included) as payment for selection. Said payment will be made to the producer of the short film. The organization reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount to be paid, but undertakes that there will be a payment per selection.
Deadline and form of registration
The short films will be presented in the different categories for selection through one of the following platforms: FILMFREEWAY, FESTHOME, MOVIBETA OR CLICK FOR FESTIVAL.
The registration deadline will be July 21, 2022.
The registration fee for the OFFICIAL SECTION, ÀNIMA, AVENTURAS Y FAN FILMS, VE CINEMA and MUSIC VIDEO will be €8 until July 1, 2023 (included). The late registration fee will be €10 from July 2 to 21, 2023.
The registration fee for the OFFICIAL STUDENT SECTION will be FREE through the MOVIBETA platform and €5 until July 1, 2022 (included) on the rest of the platforms. The late registration fee will be €7 from July 2 to 21 2023.
SELECTION OF WORKS
The works that will go to the final phase of the competition will be selected by the festival's selection committee. His decision will be final.
Once the works selection process is finished, the result will be communicated to the participants by email provided on the corresponding platform.Likewise, it will be published on the Festival website and on the different social networks.
Registrations are NOT refundable.
Once a film has been selected by the Festival for any of the established categories, it cannot be withdrawn.
The selected works must enable their download on the platform used for their projection in MP4 format – Codec 264 – Resolution: HD or send it by any online means (Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer…) to the Festival Organization.
The selected works must be submitted for screening without "flies" and clean, attaching the corresponding STR file with the relevant subtitles in the case of films shot in a language other than Spanish or Valencian.
In case of problems with the copies, the Festival organization may ask the filmmakers for a new download link or a new shipment.
The Festival Organization Committee may select, out of competition for the unofficial section, works that, due to its interest, it considers can be exhibited, as long as it has the pertinent authorization from the filmmakers.
This selection does not entail any financial endowment or prize.
JURY
The Festival Organization will designate the juries of the different sections in competition. The jury will be made up of six professionals from the film sector and six students with studies related to the film and audiovisual world selected by the festival management and will be responsible for awarding the prizes, whose decisions will be final.
The juries of the different categories may grant, together with the official prizes, as many special mentions as they consider in each of the sections.
Prizes in all categories may be declared void if deemed necessary. The prizes that entail financial endowment may not be granted ex aequo. In the case of prizes without economic endowment, the juries of the different categories may award an ex aequo prize in each of the sections.
AWARDS
The economic amount of the prizes will be subject to the withholdings determined by current legislation at the time of payment by the Festival Organization and will be understood, in any case, included in the economic allocation of said prizes.
The prizes may be sponsored by companies, public or private entities.

PRIZE DELIVERY
The awards ceremony will take place on July 23, 2023 at the closing gala of the Butoni Fest Vol. 3 International Cultural Festival of Valencia, where they will be awarded to the director, producer or relevant person of the artistic cast of each of award-winning short films.
In the event that the awardee or delegate does not attend the awards ceremony, they may be sent to the postal address indicated, but the organization will not be responsible for the shipping costs of the trophies of non-attendees. to the festival.
In case of not being able to attend the gala, it will be mandatory to send a video of thanks before July 12 to project at the gala in case of being the winner.
REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL RULES
PROGRAMMING, CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS
The organization reserves the right to exhibit the selected films in as many public sessions as it deems appropriate. You may also use all the film and photographic material that is presented for promotional purposes or for any other non-profit social or cultural activity. In this regard, the production companies will transfer the rights for the public exhibition of their films, at no cost to the organization of the Festival.
As for the works selected for the unofficial section, prior consent for their exhibition by the filmmakers, the production companies will transfer the rights for the public exhibition of their films, at no cost to the organization of the Festival.
The authors of the selected works will be part of a colloquium after the projections of their works.
PUBLICITY AND IMAGE RIGHTS
The Organization will agree on the date and order of exhibition of the films, during the days of the Festival and reserves the right to project or not a work if it does not meet the requirements for its viewing with sufficient quality.
The short films that have been awarded must include the Festival's laurel in their credits in successive public exhibitions and in any medium. This particular will be stated in the receipt document of the prizes awarded by the same.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The author or owner will maintain their intellectual rights and it will be their responsibility so long as they are not subject to any legal responsibility and that there are no rights to third parties. The presentation of a short film to Butoni Fest entails, by the selected participants, the non-exclusive transfer of the material to the organizing entities for use in the different activities scheduled with the sponsors of the festival. In the same way, the organization may use excerpts from the short film (never longer than 3 min.) for advertising or promotional purposes of the festival.
DISCLAIMER
The festival is not responsible for lost or damaged materials. As well as goods, objects, theft or robbery that may be caused during the celebration of the festival.
In case of breach of authorship, the responsible person will be solely and exclusively the one who has presented said short film or video clip, assuming, therefore, the consequences derived from any type of claim or legal action. Consequently, the organization is exempt from any conflict derived from the non-authorship of the works presented.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
These bases are subject to possible modifications and/or annexes for reasons beyond the control of the organization.
Any question not foreseen in the bases will be resolved by the organization of the festival.
The presentation of a film at the Butoni Fest Vol. 3 implies full acceptance and compliance with these Participation Bases and their possible annexes.
