Butchers Kill Lambs

'Butchers Kill lambs' tells the story of John Breads attempted murder of James Lamb in Rye on the south coast of England in 1742. The film is told to camera by the locals of the town who recount from memory, with some prompting, this tale of mistaken identity by playing out the infamous scenes.

Director Statement

Butchers is about the fallibility of history, a story told & retold by the locals, handed down through time. This is something you hear down the pub with all it's embellishment & humour when the locals tell local stories. I love hearing them & wanted to share that feeling.
