Director Statement

Bushitoad is a 3D/2D Hybrid film that served as a capstone to the Director's
senior experience at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Right before
their freshman year of college Hurricane Dorian hit the island they were from.
Losing your, home or anything hurts. So, when writing the story they wanted
to encapsulate their feelings at the start of their college journey and how they
have evolved. After the pain of loss, you may never be able to find something
to fill the hole. But you have to move on and find life again.
The director took a lot of influence from Japanese culture but also infused
his own into every aspect of the film. Both Japanese
Ukiyoe
paintings and
traditional Bahamian Watercolor artists such as Stanley Burnside inspire the
film's very distinct style. Everyone on the crew of Bushitoad worked to
produce a film that serves as a love letter to both cultures and comes from a
place of passion and admiration.
