Burning Heroes

The profession of firefighter is a highly valued profession in society, but one that is only known objectively. Everyone knows this profession only from reports or from pictures and videos in action, but not from the perspective of the professional himself. The short documentary shows the world, the viewer, the courage it takes to work in this profession. Through an interview with a real firefighter from the German metropolis of Hamburg, we learn what it means to literally burn.

Director Biography - Mateusz Misiarz

Mateusz Misiarz, born in Tychy, Poland in 2003, lives since 2011 in Hamburg, Germany. While making his high school degree in 2023, he did finf out that his artist hearth burns for the film industry, and so he decided to join the film industry. Since end of 2023 he's study Filmmaking in Hamburg, with the focus on being Director of Photography and a Creative Director. Since only one year Mateusz created already short films, documentaries, event, sports and music videos inside and outside the film school.

The profession of firefighter is a highly valued profession in society, but it is only known objectively. Everyone knows this profession only from reports or from pictures and videos in action, but not from the perspective of the professional himself. We want to show the world, the audience, the courage it takes to work in this profession. What are the downsides, how do you deal with trauma, what does the family say and is all the hard training worth it in the end?
