Director Statement

I was inspired to make this film based on a number of factors. First of all, in my work in advertising I have met many Tims (the main character) at times, when I used to drink, I have probably been a bit like Tim myself.

The second factor was the constant bombardment of financial tips, side hustle ideas, alpha male pseudo-nonsense I get on social media. These types of pages all follow a similar formula and a thought process that isn’t based on any actual real world experience from what I can tell.

I wanted to see what would happen if you placed someone who followed these hustle pages, kind of an Andrew Tate follower type, and placed them in a situation with an actual businessman. More of a local businessman as opposed to a billionaire (another instance of oversight on these pages is that the only 2 modes are broke or billionaire) as these are the type I’m more familiar with and operate in the real world. To that end, I kind of envisioned it as tradition meeting and clashing with something that thinks it represents traditional values but actually represents something more sinister borne from isolation more than anything else.
