Jeremy Ray Smolik is a new filmmaker who has spent years as an editor, cinematographer, and producer. This is his first planned short film (aside from practice films in the past), and he is currently writing two feature films & planning to produce one of them by 2020. His ultimate goal is to make films that all feel different, just depends on the story and the style it demands.
I made this short as an experimental piece to see if I could tell a story with one character, performing one action, in one location, and with no dialogue. The narrator recites a dark poem which slowly reveals the truth, and I mixed in a hand-painted flashback to give it more depth. The story told in the short evolved into a feature script, currently being shopped around.
