Brink of Existence: 3

Once, many villages in Republic of Moldova were full of people with beautiful households. Today, only some deserted houses and the sheepfolds are left. Gavrilovca, from Sîngerei district, and Chersac, from Teleneşti, are two such villages. In Gavrilovca, officially, no one lives, and only the owners of the two herds of sheep, and their workers are still there. Only the cemeteries seem full of former inhabitants. In Chersac, according to the last census, 21 people lived, but it is unclear how many actually left since then. Young people are not coming back because there is no work in the village, no opportunities, and not even proper roads. This is the third episode of the project Brink of Existence, which explores the depopulated villages of Moldova.
