Bridging the Gap with Brooklyn Bridges
Bridging the Gap was a web series project I worked on during the Fall semester of 2020. I collaborated with my friend, roommate and Drag Queen, Brooklyn Bridges, to create an online series highlighting drag and queer culture, politics, and current events. We provided Ithacans a platform to use their voices and learn about how to get involved in their community.

My name is Peyton Schabilion. I am from Southern California and I am the oldest sibling of three. From 2015-2018 I was the lead anchor at Irvine High School and was the longest running female anchor in the school’s history. In 2016, I won Best 24 hour Film at the Orange County Film Festival (OCFF) and in 2017 I won “Best Anchor” and “Best Broadcast.” In 2018 I was a judge for the SoCal Film Festival. I partnered with others and oversaw the international, experimental and animation films. I am currently a Junior Cinema and Photo major at Ithaca College. I look forward to adapting and growing with my fellow filmmakers as we navigate a new post-pandemic way of creating and filmmaking.
During this election year, I felt my voice was stifled in my conservative home. There was always a gap; an age gap, political gap, gender gap etc. When I returned to New York for the school year, I was determined to create something beautiful - something that would shake the earth a little and spark conversations with diverse people - even people I may not agree with. I believe it's important to start the conversation, let's bridge this gap.
