Breath
'Breath' is an attempt to reconstruct, through an image, the feeling that remais alive between mom and daughter. It is the effort to expose the heart through absence. Allowing the image to sharpen the senses to a past that still pulses in the present.

Sofia Badim is a latin Lgbt+, award winner, film student who works in the interaction between writing and film. ‘Breath’ is her first film.
Breath originated from a photo. I found this image of me and my mother, who died a few years ago, and felt that the hard and cathartic process that I went through in her passing, was somehow materialized there.
I try to make sense of the cold documents, reface the past with the lens of the present, and register the presence of the absence.
This film is special for being my first, and for dealing with such a central and structuring theme in my life. Through him, I learned to ask questions to the images, and to try, as much as possible, to allow the answers to take shape, broad and free.
