Breaking 200

Steve Rutherford is a retired maintenance welder who successfully broke a land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Plains in a self made land-speed car. In doing so he realized the untapped speed potential of his land-speed car and has set his sights on breaking the 200 mph world record. In preparation for his new challenge, Steve must address a few issues he encountered on his last visit to the Bonneville Salt Plains as well as perform his duties as crew chief, mechanic, mentor, father, brother and grandfather for his family's drag racing team.

My professional goal is simply to initiate, create, collaborate and present films of diverse interest. I desire any part of the film-making process and experience the greatest satisfaction just by completing a project no matter its complexity or my role.

I hope to see this project become a full length documentary one day. This submission's purpose is to generate more awareness about the project and inspire others to explore their local communities. There are often amazing people like Steve and his family right at home in northern Alberta.
