W. David King is an Emmy-award winning director, cinematographer, and producer with a love of horror, martial arts action films, and urban vapor gels. Born outside of L.A. and raised in Hawaii, his curiosity for filmmaking began at a young age when reenacting the process of filming scenes from Jaws.
His first film, the western short "Blood Money," won best first time filmmaker at the Venice Shorts of California Film Festival, propelling him into a multi-faceted independent film career.
Following the success of his first film, Walter worked as cinematographer on the multi-award winning short "Bugtussle."
With the wind in his sails, he went on to perform various leadership roles on eight more short films over the following two years before embarking on his first feature, the comedy-horror film "Declan Carter: Monster Hunter."
W. David King has worked on five other features since "Declan Carter" and he is gearing up to work as gaffer on a sixth.
I have always had an obsessive alertness. A feeling of infinite smallness and yet a yearning to connect with others. This created a deep personal relationship between myself and the increasingly present interconnectivity of everything around me. Because of this, I have consistently been drawn to projects and stories of a multi-genre nature.
When I was approached by Diana Cochran about helming Break My Bones, I saw in her vision a unique blend of fantasy and action-thriller textures that really captivated me.
I knew I wanted every shot to feel undeniably cinematic and engrossing and I believe we achieved that on this film. It's something I'm extremely proud and honored to have been a part of.
