Mackenzie Thomson grew up in Leicestershire, UK. He is 21 years of age and awaiting results for his degree at the University of Salford, Manchester, where he read Film Production BA (Hons). Currently he has written and directed three independent short films, one of which was recently selected for the Royal Television Society North West Student Awards 2020.
Mackenzie’s first interest was animation. However, after realising his passion for all forms of cinema during Secondary School, he swiftly targeted his career towards the world of film.
'Brass Monkeys' was the first short film I wrote, and my directorial debut as a filmmaker. I believe I've come a long, long way since making this film but is holds a very special place in my heart. The film had a next to now budget but we had an absolute blast making it, and I'm so grateful to everyone that was involved.
