Director Statement

BOUND in some ways is a catharsis from my own personal trauma on the subject of abuse and my passion for depicting deeply human experiences on screen. It is my most recent endeavor back into the fiction space after a decade of filming through the lens of a documentarian.

One of the themes explored in the film is the search for intimacy and belonging. Mira's encounter with the Handsome Man sparks a moment of shared vulnerability, where their brief interaction reveals layers of personal history. The second encounter explores the yearning for human connection that resonates a different universal experience inviting audiences to reflect on the transformative power of chance encounters.

At its core, Bound is a profound tale of a people seeking closure from past demons. Mira reclaims her power and defines her own values on her terms. More than justice, it is about recovering one's humanity.

It is my hope that this film resonates with audiences, igniting conversations and fostering a deeper appreciation for the profound impact of the people we meet along our journey. Thank you for joining me on this exploration.
Sincerely,
Vikram Dasgupta
