I am the lead producer, writer and director of Bottom of a Glass Blues and Producer of Ekanna Entertainment, LLC.
I have been writing, editing and producing films for over ten years (since 2011), this recent effort being my first feature.
I have ten years of education in film with both a B.A. in Cinema Studies and a M.F.A. in Feature Film Production, both from the University of Central Florida.
I am also a U.S. Army Veteran which has informed my approach to refining production organization for independent film.
Bottom of a Glass Blues is not intended to be a stirring call to action in the vein of Eisenstein, or a solemn rendering of middle and lower-class American’s plight. If anything, the film dares the audience to enjoy themselves as they experience the strife and humor of its characters.
Paul is emblematic of this blind self-determination that we can always dust ourselves off from failure and that genuine efforts to seek help and community are to be swiftly denied in favor of preserving our individuality.
I chose to write characters across the social strata to show how regardless of class that no matter one’s financial disposition or personal experiences, we all tend to see those around us as our competitors rather than members of our community.
Wealth and relative success pass as quickly as it arrives like a roaring hurricane, what’s left is what matters, our relationships and our community that helps us rebuild our lives.
