WINNER BEST NARRATIVE SHORT (18th Season)
Ginevra Gentili is a British-Italian director and producer currently based in London. She runs her own independent production company North Harley Films. She has directed award-winning short films (Borrowed Time, Tell Tale Signs, Martin), music videos, and music documentaries working with artists and brands such as Eivør, Sohodolls, Sony, A&G Sync and more.
Ginevra won Best Female Director at the 2021 Annual Independent Shorts Awards in LA. In addition, her latest short film Borrowed Time has received several accolades, including the Audience Award at BIFA qualifying North East International Film Festival.
Ginevra is now in development for her debut feature film, Souls Divided, which she wants to film between the UK and Italy and is hoping to begin pre-production for in the coming months.
Borrowed Time is a project that is very personal to me. Fourteen years ago, I experienced one of the most terrible days, but it was also full of coincidence and significance. A story I thought should be told, not because it was my story, but because of what it had to say.

Making this film came with a lot of technical challenges and it was an incredible learning experience as a director. As a story of loss and growth between three generations of women, my aim was for this production to be predominantly female, and it turned out to be a team made up of so many nationalities as well. I had the chance to work with a very versatile and diverse cast and crew.

Borrowed Time is a coming of age story, a story about grief, and the silence that too often comes with it. It’s been a long journey and I’m excited to finally be sharing this film.
