Director Statement

I grew up in a small town in Yorkshire, where my friends and I were left with very little to do. I spent a lot of time thinking about life beyond the town, but my plans were upset by my poor grades and, after failing my GCSEs, my future wasn't looking particularly bright.
Boredom was made to capture that feeling of being stuck in a small town, isolated from the rest of the world, and desperate for a change. I wanted to explore the relationships between these three friends, each with their own hopes and ambitions, or lack thereof.
For me, it was so important to cast actors that were not only the appropriate age, but also from the local area, and I'm really proud to say that Boredom was produced entirely by a cast and crew based here in the north.
Here in Yorkshire, there's some brilliant talent emerging, and we wanted to celebrate that. Maybe it will even bring a little bit of hope to any small town boys or girls who, as I did, feel like they'll never experience life beyond their small town.
