Borders

How or even does a border–physical, psychological, or cultural–bear any import over an individual? Borders is a family drama set amidst the disfunction of a character, Roberto, who carries nothing more than the deep human understanding of failure and the deeper human need to belong. He is a non-culture individual, taken from a Latin culture and raised in white America, understanding facets of both, losing sight of others, and truly understood and accepted by none. What borders can he place around himself through the exclusionary homogeneity of his adopted culture and the foreign-ness of his birth culture? Along the way, Roberto unveils a layered history of his family roots, which forces him to reset his own personal borders. Across an ensemble cast that involves police, government, professors, and cartels, members are forced to reconcile their own personal borders at every turn in this TV series.
