Booth by the Window: No Smoking
EPISODE 5
On a roadtrip to visit her grandchildren, Georgia, a soulful old woman, stops at the Crossroads Diner for quick refuge. When she meets Robin, a wise waiter, the two share a deeper understanding of the mortality that Georgia is struggling to face.
"Booth by the Window" is a web series created by The CU Denver Film & Television Program. The series features six episodes that focus on six different characters who encounter a diner that helps them through a crossroads in their life. An exploration of magical-realism in storytelling and filmmaking techniques, "Booth by the Window" is a drama in the vein of "Twin Peaks" with the ominous whimsy of "Welcome to Nightvale".

Brea Ingram started college at Auburn University as a broadcast journalism major, and it wasn’t until she produced a no-budget short film sophomore year that she realized her true passion was in writing for the screen. Since transferring to University of Colorado Denver she has directed several short films including [Not Pictured] in partnership with Whistling Woods International in Mumbai, which was selected for multiple festivals internationally. Recently her short script Phobos has placed in several script competitions. She has taken workshops with writers Maggie Stiefvater and Emily Andras, and worked in media operations at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Lausanne Youth Olympics.
I’ve always been drawn to character driven and emotional stories, and “No Smoking” checked both of those boxes for me. In each episode, Robin helps put the customer on the right path, but in this episode in particular the connection between Robin and Georgia really drives the story. “No Smoking” is about making the wrong decisions and not being able to stop, even when you know they’re not good for you, and breaking out of habits to live a better life.
