Hello ma'am

In the eyes of the stretcher-bearers, I was the odious, negligent granddaughter. When she was found, almost two years ago to the day, my grandmother was hypothermic, her feet were frozen, she was functioning slowly, stammering, and rambling. She was taken to the hospital, where she stayed for a month.
Then, my mother took her into my teenage bedroom. Two years later, we told her she could move back in her home the next day.

Two years later, I finally understood what she had been hiding so mysteriously for so many years.
What she had been hiding in her house. And deep inside herself too...

The footage in this film was shot between February 2018 and May 2022, at the time of my grandmother's death. The editing of the short film we are presenting to you was completed in the winter of 2022-2023.

Director Biography - France Timmermans, Franck Dépretz

Franck Dépretz, 34 ans, est journaliste indépendant. Fondateur du Nouveau Jour J, un irrégulomadaire mêlant reportages, satires et enquêtes sociales qui a sévi jusqu'en 2017 en Lorraine, il pige, depuis, pour la presse libre et indépendante depuis les Vosges. De l'écrit à l'image, en passant par le podcast, rien n'arrête sa plume. Il mène aussi, avec sa compagne, un projet d'éducation populaire aux médias et au cinéma destiné aux jeunes : Vidéaux Proj'.

France Timmermans, 31 ans, s'est lancée dans une entreprise d'éducation populaire au média et au cinéma, baptisée Vidéaux Proj', avec son compagnon. Elle coordonne des ateliers de réalisation de courts-métrages artistico-journalistiques dans des écoles, foyers de demandeurs.ses d'asile, structures pour jeunes en réinsertion. Elle réalise des reportages vidéos pour des médias indépendants et parfois ses projets perso de documentaires. Comme elle ne connaît aucun.e producteur.trice autour d'elle, elle tente des concours de courts-métrages. Elle a du talent pour lancer des bouteilles à la mer.
