Director Statement

When I moved to London to work on a film, I started spending a great deal of time on the tube. As there's no signal on the Underground it feels different - I was in limbo with my thoughts and would watch the different characters come on and off the train. I loved how distinct people looked, each with their own presence and color. That's when I thought of a scene where a man copies these characters, wearing their different identities.

My story then grew into someone trying to figure out who they are after detaching from everything that defines him, like when I left my home and moved to London and had to find myself away from the people, places and things that had defined me until then.

In London, you can find nine chicken shops on the same road, all 100 meters apart.

Phenomenal.

All of them trying to stand out with their signs, names and colors. Just like humans.

We all want to feel unique and special in the sea of endless people and voices trying to separate themselves from the rest. I feel the same with my art. I believe that you become an individual by not trying to be seen, but by following what ignites you - something Matt comes to understand.

I hope my film causes the audience to look more closely at their own lives and find renewed appreciation and love for day-to-day life. I hope my film inspires people to live more intentionally.
