Peter Damm is a Chicago-based filmmaker who grew up in Philadelphia.
This film is both a parody and an homage to 1940s melodrama, a period of film that I have only come to appreciate more as I’ve gotten older. I wanted to play in the world of canonical films like “Now, Voyager” or “Brief Encounter” through the use of blocking and B&W 35mm film. I wrote the script as a heightened version of melodramatic euphemism, but even more than the dialogue, I wanted to create something that allowed the actors and crew to use their talents to get as close as possible to the look and feel of a genre I so admire.
