Bodhan - The Awakening

An autistic girl Mimi has close bonding with her elder sister Koel. The parents are somewhat embarrassed and frustrated about her abnormalities. Time comes when Koel will leave home with her fiancé. Mimi becomes more and more restless sensing the separation. Koel wants her parents to embrace Mimi to the fullest. She dresses her up as ‘Durga’ and brings her to their father. Will he be able to see Goddess Durga in Mimi now?

Director Biography - Biplab Sanyal

Biography: Biplab Sanyal
Date of birth: 5th July, 1969
Lives in: Uppsala, Sweden
Family: married to Suparna Sanyal, one son - Ruku
A professor of Physics at the Uppsala University, Sweden, Biplab always pursued deep interest in film and photography. Biplab was born in Kolkata, India and completed his education till PhD in the same city. In 2000, he moved to Sweden and began his academic carrier as a researcher. Parallel to academics, Biplab started making music videos and short films around 2014. His first short The Inner Circle made to two international festivals and won a special festival mention award in 2017.

Director Statement

This film is dedicated to all parents who have children with special needs. The story is very close to my heart. We are not technically very strong, but this is a piece of work with lot of passion and affection. I hope that you will feel the simple message in it. I hope that you will find Durga in all these children.
