Experiencing Interruptions?

Blue Crossing

It was just an ordinary quiet night. A routine traffic stop becomes the catalyst for what may be the breaking point for a troubled and corrupt precinct when one of their own has to face the ultimate test of loyalty to his brothers in blue or what’s morally right in the name of protecting and serving the community.

Director Biography - Nick Dalmacy

Influenced by the films of the 70’s like King Kong (1977), Halloween, Time After Time and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Nick Dalmacy has been obsessed with film as a means of communicating imagination via celluloid to a mass audience.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Nick has began his foray into filmmaking in 1993 when he decided to make a career out of his passion. He wrote his first screenplay, “Field Day”. In 2002, Nick shot a portion of the film to attract financing. After unsuccessfully raising the financing for “Field Day”, in 2003, he was hired to direct a music video for B-E-Z Entertainment recording artist Blu Eye. The video would air briefly in the West Coast independent video channels. Shortly after the music video, he went on to write “Scorn”. Again, Nick assembled a small cast and crew, and shot a small portion of the script to help raise financing. In 2004, he and his family, moved to North Carolina, where he took some time off from film to reflect on the future. In early 2008, he wrote the short film “Genesis: Prelude to SYXX”. The story about a disillusioned soldier who completes a covert terrorist plan and risks his love for his wife and country went on to win a Platinum Award from the Nevada Film Festival. The short film would help bring in financing from family and friends for “Scorn”. Originally a New York based story, the film was retooled for the North Carolina setting. From Writing, Producing and Directing his first feature film, he also served as editor of the film. In 2011, Nick Dalmacy would independently distribute Scorn at the Rialto Theater in Raleigh, NC, which seats 400. From doing his own trailers and TV spots, the premier was a sold out event. Due to the success of the premier, the theater manager would agree to release the film for another showing the following month and another successful screening. To date, the film has grossed over $2000 from two nights, which is listed in www.boxofficemojo.com. Scorn has also went through the festival circuit winning awards for Best Film, Best Actress and Best Drama at the New Bern Black Film Festival and was nominated for Best Film at the 2011 Sand Diego Black Film Festival.
In early 2014, Dalmacy would begin work on “Sins of the Wicked”, a short film which was shot in North Carolina. The production would take 3 days and Dalmacy served as the Writer, Director, Producer and Editor.
In August of 2014, Dalmacy would set out to shoot the sequel, “Sons of the Wicked” and it was then that he decided to look to expand the story into a cinematic short series.

Director Statement

I received a call one day from my first feature DP who wanted to shoot some 16 mm short ends so that he can make room in his fridge. I jumped at the chance to shoot on film again so I began writing a script with the simple concept of a man visiting his ailing father only to learn a family secret. It was quick (2 days) and seemed like a good idea. Have 2 actors in a room and keep the shots very basic. Of course things never pan out the way you want. We suffered from actors bailing on us to camera failure. Ultimately, I decided to cancel the project and shelve the script. That was 2011. That script was “Sins of the Wicked”
Fast forward to 2013, one of my actors from “Scorn”, Derrell White, contacted me about dusting off Sins and wanted to do the short. I really had no interest to re-visit that project due to finances and the fact that I didn’t want to shoot it unless it was either a RED or ALEXA. He introduced me to Tripp Green who is a gifted DP with his own RED and then we began to work on the film.
What’s funny is how a simple story of a man visiting his father turned into a more ambitious tale. I decided to make the Man, Michael Stanton, into a detective working on a homicide who went to see his father, also a retired Detective, and have his life turned upside down from a secret. I wrote this for an additional 5 days only cause I kept veering away from the short concept. It kept growing into a feature. After about 75 pages, more characters, locations, and plots added, I decided to break it up. I said to myself that if the first one works, then I would dive into doing a short trilogy.
One thing I learned while doing this project was how much collaboration between each department is vital. One miscommunication can spell disastrous. With small crews (5 total) and everyone wearing multiple hats, things became daunting. But after the first successful shoot, I was able to call these guys and gals my family. We each put something special in Sins and the sequels, “Sons of the Wicked” and “Legacy of the Wicked”. There is nothing I wouldn’t do without calling on my talented bunch of mavericks to work on any story we decide to tell.
