Blown Away - Music, Miles and Magic

This film tells the adventurous story of a 4-year journey around the world by the two friends Ben and Hannes. Without being capable to sail at all, they travel in a small 40-year-old sailboat from Australia via Southeast Asia, India, Africa and South America to North America. Here they convert an old school bus into a camper van and travel through the USA to Canada and finally back across the Atlantic to Europe by boat. In the process, they cover more than 75.000 kilometers. As trained sound engineers and musicians, Ben and Hannes take every opportunity to record music on the road. They meet many extraordinary artists and create the new genre of "Expedition Music". Musicians from different countries participate in each piece and complement or expand the compositions with their own parts and interpretations. In total, they record 130 songs with over 200 musicians from 31 countries and release two records as "Sailing Conductors".
‘Blown Away’ is a film about triumph and personal growth. An inspiring story of how music is the thread that binds us all together. Of how the power of a song can break all cultural and language barriers. And how the greatest adventures start with a simple idea, and the will to peruse your dreams.

Director Biography - Micha Schulze

The director and editor Micha Schulze studied literature and theatre studies and lives and works in Berlin. He is a musician himself and has directed numerous music videos for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Roger Chapman, among others, and is active as a writer and editor for various television stations. Blown Away is his first feature-length documentary.
