Experiencing Interruptions?

Blooming

Blooming is a tribute to handmade work, done from the hands and the heart. Through its protagonist, Mirta, we wonder through theatrical stages that are built with analog techniques, getting original and simple finishes. Montse Piñeiro takes as reference her grandmothers, examples of strength and wisdom of experience, to reveal a magical universe that transports us to our childhood. The original music of Rubén Abad dances with the images and takes us to the beginning of the 20th century, through impressionistic nuances that intermingle with the lights and colors that accompany the whole piece.

Director Biography - Montse Piñeiro Torres, Rubén Abad

Alifáfaro is born in the spring of 2019 by the hand of the artisan and stage designer Montse Piñeiro and the musician Rubén Abad. The project arises from the mixture between the experimentation of stop-motion on ceramic objects by Montse and the mass production of music and sound spaces by Rubén. In this combination of languages borns a collaboration that raises their personal efforts to a complete creation, in which music and image dilute to form a single piece where everything fits.
Visually, Alifáfaro integrates a series of techniques related to the old school: hand drawing, ceramics, visual mechanisms, model making, collage, photography ... that evoke the classical stage of animation and which shows the clear influence of filmmakers such as Ian Svankmajer or the Quay Brothers, looking for the timeless handmade work.
In the musical level this traditional concept is complemented by the absence of electronics, the use of choirs invoking the Beach Boys, the American radio of the 50s, the impressionism of Debussy, the origin of a song structure or a classic piece, mantles of gentle sounds that flow by imaginary worlds.
The two parts conceive a cosmo that seems to transport us at the beginning of the twentieth century, where we find Django Reinhardt, the Boulanger Sisters, Orson Welles, Marlene Dietricht, Maurice Ravel, Lotte Reiniger, Chaplin; avant-garde is born, latin music and jazz are arriving ... We are in the year 2019, the new crazy twenties are about to begin.
