Director Biography - Devan Shae Sylvester

My name is Devan Sylvester and I am a recent college graduate from Cal State Monterey Bay. I spent the last three and a half years studying Cinematic Arts and Technology/Film here.

I am an aspiring filmmaker interested mainly in cinematography or editing, but I appreciate all aspects of film and photography.

Along with writing, directing, and editing my first official film "Bloom", I have worked on many other projects with a wide variety of people and equipment throughout my time at CSUMB.

I’ve always been intrigued by seeing things from unique perspectives. When I was younger, I used to imagine that trees had thoughts and were always watching people go by, so I thought it would be an interesting idea to have a natural, earthy being observing a human relationship develop over the course of Summer and what that point of view would be like.

I am also very interested in the way that different types of relationships are formed and how each one is different. Following a young, charming couple and their playful dog, the tree's unique voice and perspective will warm the hearts of all audiences.
