Director Biography - Davide Santandrea

Davide Santandrea, born in 1966 in Ravenna and later adopted by the town of Meldola, is a multifaceted artist. He has pursued various passions since childhood, including filmmaking, where he specializes in directing horror, thriller, and sci-fi movies. He is also a skilled creator of animatronic characters and special effects, a craft he learned as a young apprentice to the renowned master Carlo Rambaldi, the creator of iconic animatronic characters for E.T., King Kong, Alien, and many others. Lastly, Davide is an accomplished author of horror and sci-fi novels, which often serve as the basis for his film scripts. Among his latest written works are the first two novels in the vampire saga Sunset Moon, titled Sunset Moon and Darkblood, available in bookstores and on Amazon. Davide hopes to one day adapt these books into films.

Since 2013, Davide has been heavily involved in filmmaking, initially as a writer, screenwriter, and actor, and then, starting in 2017, as a director. He acted in a film titled Tramonto di Sangue (Blood Sunset) and in two TV series, Ombra del Diario (Shadow of the Diary) and Thirst, both aired on the CW18 channel in the United States.

Davide's passion for cinema began as a teenager. At 15, he shot small short films with his cousins and friends using an old Super 8 home camera. "Just youthful experiments," Davide says with a blush, "but even back then, you could see my early attempts at filmmaking."

Starting in 2018, Davide took the director's chair, helming Tramonto di Sangue and the two TV series aired in the U.S. That same year, he also became the creator and director of the TV program Oltre L’Ignoto (Beyond the Unknown), broadcast on the 7Gold TV channel. In 2020, he directed the film Horror in the Wood. From 2020 onward, Davide has been at the helm of eight films in the Join The Evil saga (One After Another You’ll Die!, The Curse of Kutu, The Demon of the Woods, The End of the Nightmare, Join The Evil, The Codes of Evil, The Desecrated Soul, and The Rise of Evil).

In 2021, he also produced several horror and sci-fi short films, such as Fear of a Book, Memories of a Zombie, I Am a Real Vampire, The Man Who Didn’t Survive the Virus, and Join The Dead. Davide has a treasure trove of screenplays, some inspired by his dreams and nightmares, and others adapted from his published books. He plans to bring many of these stories to life in future films and shorts.

Bloody Sunset is a film created by assembling various episodes from the TV series Shadow of the Diary, which features the real vampire Horus Sat as its main protagonist. The film includes new scenes and explores themes surrounding real vampires and the Italian League of Real Vampires, an organization that exists in Italy.
